Dogs, camping and family is what the weekend (Unknown) is all about. We will be setting up camp at the Summit Lake Game farm by Hayward Wi. We will be doing everything from yard work to water retrieval with plenty of time left over for grilling and family time. This is an amazing place to train and explore. We would love to have you!

Informational update as of 7/6/2015 regarding grounds, birds and potluck.
Dear: Southern Minnesota NAVHDA Chapter,
Angie and I were up at Summit Lake for 4 days over the July 4th weekend training. The fields are plenty thick and high but we found plenty of space and decent cover at the Big Field where we trained last year. The duck search waters are awesome! Angie and I cut a trail back there so you can walk and send from dry, solid, land. Not like the mucky beaver dam last year. We also went to the mark-to-retrieve spot in the corner of the lake and cleaned it up a little and shot Round-Up on the trail to knock down the poison ivy.
Last year we had a spur-of-the-moment-potluck that just happened Saturday night around the grill. Looking for that to happen again. There will be a special redneck NAVHDA game for anyone interested Saturday during cocktail hour and cooking. You'll want to be involved...that's all I'll say. You are also responsible for supplying your own birds. They do not have bird space this year so make sure you can take care of your birds in the crates you bring them in.
We are organizing cabins and space. We have heard that there have been a number of folks kicking it around but these are the people that have committed. Please contact Paul Coenen at [email protected] to get on the cabin list. We have room for up to 6 more people in the cabins. Reminder: cabin cost will be the cost+tax divided by the number of people staying in your cabin. After the cabins are full there is plenty of camping space there as well. Please contact Summit Lake Game Farm on your own to make campsite reservations at http://summitlakegamefarm.com.
Please let us know if you plan on attending or canceling your reservations by Friday July, 17th!
If you are coming and staying elsewhere or in the campground, please let us know so we make sure to include you in on any intel, activities or communications.
We are going up one more time before the training weekend August 1 & 2. We will give you another grounds/water update the week before.
See you then, Paul & Angie

The Hayward training event will once again take place at Summit Lake Game Farm http://summitlakegamefarm.com the weekend of August 1st and 2nd. Arrival will be Friday night, July 31th, with training activities starting in the early morning on August 1st.
This will be a BYOB activity (Bring Your Own Birds). There are pens for us to use but we will not be able to provide birds. Please plan ahead and bring your own.
Housing is either on your own or in one of the basic cabins they have available. We have secured the same two cabins we had last year. The A-Frame and the Old Clubhouse. They are basic but functional. Cost is approximately $150/night plus tax and will be divided by the number of people in that cabin. I think housing was about $25-$30/night per person last year. They also have a campground with very nice facilities. There are other lodging opportunities in the area that you are more than welcome to explore on your own. Folks tend to gather at the Old Clubhouse to socialize and cook and it has been known to have a training session, or two, break out unexpectedly.
Meals are on your own. I will bring a grill for all to use. Last year we had lunch at the main lodge on Saturday and an informal pot luck Saturday night. That just means we didn't plan anything but it worked out because everyone was so generous in bringing something to eat. No one went home hungry.
The plan is to make a training plan Friday night for what people are looking to do the next day. We will assist as best we can but we also have a dog to train for the Utility Test. There is excellent search waters, mark to retrieve water, plenty of fields, and a wonderful spot for puppy water introduction.
Hope to see you there. Please reply to me at mailto:[email protected] and let me know if you are coming and want to stay at one of the lodges. We would like a fairly accurate count for lodging purposes.
